This Darjeeling Tea is an exceptional expression of the summertime in Darjeeling from Samabeong – one of the highest and most remote organic tea gardens in the region. Samabeong is surrounded on all sides by valleys of forests and rivers, rich with flora and fauna, and is home to great biodiversity, including endangered species. As a result, the soil here is complex, and the climate is cold, with an altitude of over 2000 metres above sea level, producing slow-grown Darjeeling teas with concentrated and pronounced flavour profiles. Our new Organic Darjeeling Summer Blossom is no exception – it is a FTGFOP1 grade of Darjeeling clonal, made from only the youngest, most tender 2nd flush buds that are hand-picked and produced with long, elegant curls of chocolate-brown leaf and downy white tips that produce a glowing gold-orange infusion. Clear aromas of cedar, honeysuckle and orange blossom can be detected, with the honeyed flavour of mirabelle plums and muscatel. This tea finishes on a smooth note with a lingering sweetness, while longer infusions reveal a dark liquor with greater complexity. Quite the tea for savouring on a summer’s afternoon.
